Malaysia is going through some tough times now with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. If there’s any silver lining in these critical times, it’s that Malaysians have grown to be more aware and concerned regarding the well-being of others.
We’ve seen fellow Malaysians trying to help each other by making homemade face masks and some had also conducted fundraising to help out the needy and provide medical team with supplies.
Now, the Non-Pensionable Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATTBM) is prepared to assist the country’s frontliners in curbing the spread of Covid-19. In an act of patriotism, veteran members in their 40s and 50s who are still able and willing, have decided to serve the nation again during these pressing times.
According to New Straits Times (NST), the President of PVATTBM, Datuk Ismail Abidin said members are ready to be called anytime to serve the country again.
Alongside with other frontliners, the PVATTBM will not only help in the efforts to curb Covid-19, they will also assist in carrying out the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“We have many members, about 350,000 people, who can be mobilised at anytime,” said Datuk Ismail to reporters at Perlis Contingent Police Headquarters here, today (26th of March 2020).
Our Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that the MCO will be extended for another two more weeks with the new expected end date falling on 14th of April 2020. The public is required to continue staying at home, practice social distancing and adhere to the MCO.
