Let’s be honest, finding seating at a restaurant where you can see your parked car so that you can run to get it when parking enforcement officers walk by to check on parking tickets is getting exhausting.
Well, for some Malaysians, that worry can be put off for a while.
The Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) is encouraging Kuantanites to display the Malaysian flag on their cars for Merdeka week by axing parking ticket regulations.
PENGUMUMAN :PARKING PERCUMA SEMPENA MERDEKAMPK bagi parking percuma dari 24 hingga 31 Ogos sempena Minggu Kemerdekaan…
They wrote, “Announcement: Free parking in conjunction with Merdeka. MPK is giving out free parking from 24 August to 31 August for the 63rd Merdeka week. You can display a flag (the Jalur Gemilang) on your car, as showcase in the images, and MPK enforcement officers will not compound you for not displaying parking tickets or not buying parking charges on Pahang Go (the Pahang state one-stop application).”
Of course, there are still certain rules applied, for one, the flag displayed must be in good condition.
“The terms is that you must display the flag as shown in the pictures, the flag must be beautiful, don’t display torn ones.”
Another rule is that this promotion only applies to proper town council mandated parking spots, so don’t go parking by roadsides, or anywhere you please, where you’ll still get compounded or clamped.
This is truly such a great way to build patriotism and create a sense of togetherness within a community because what better way to bring people together than to give them free parking, right?
It’ll be nice to see other town councils implementing this too!
Stay tuned for more updates.
