If you’re in the area, please be careful and cautious while driving!
A terrible collision between a cash security van and a lorry tanker took place earlier this afternoon at around 1:30pm, causing one fatality and a heavy traffic jam from both directions of the North-South PLUS Highway, as reported by Info Roadblock JPJ and Astro Awani.
“All northbound and southbound lanes are blocked as the lorry tanker collided into the opposite lane and is in a horizontal position,” said Muallim District Chief Superintendent, Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman, who confirmed that the accident occurred at kilometer 389.5 on PLUS north highway from Tanjung Malim, Perak heading to Behrang.
“The vehicle was diverted to the Tanjung Malim Toll Plaza and the southbound exit to the Behrang Plaza toll,” he added.
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia said they received an emergency call at 12:33 pm, informing them of the crash. A team was immediately deployed to the scene. Unfortunately, one of the three passengers in the cash security van passed away while the others survived with minor injuries.
Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family during this troubling time. Please stay safe if you’re on the road this festive season.
