Sleeping and cuddling with your pets on your bed is something that is pretty common in Malaysia, as most of us treat them like they are part of the family. However, you might want to make sure that your pets are free from any ticks or fleas as it is bad for your furkids and also yourself.
A 20-year-old girl in Nanjing, Jiangsu loves cuddling up and sleeping with her pet cat every night, Sohu reported. Recently, she discovered that she would hear weird rustling sounds when there wasn’t much noise in her surroundings as if something was crawling in her ears.
Worried that something was wrong, she went to the hospital to check it out. After careful examination, the doctor discovered that there were many cat fleas in her ears. The rustling sound she heard was because the fleas were feeding and biting on her eardrums. Umm, what?
It was revealed that the girl had the habit of sleeping with her cat next to her on her pillow. He deduced that the cat fleas must have gotten inside her ears while she was sleeping with her kitty. Luckily, the doctor managed to treat her condition and killed and removed all the lice inside her ears.
The doctor said that cat fleas can damage the tissues in the ear canal or expel toxins that can cause ear inflammation. He reminded others to be careful when sleeping with pets and to ensure that their bodies are free from fleas, ticks and lice if you choose to do so.
Keep your pets clean and parasite-free guys!
