Now that almost all meetings have to be done virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there have been many technical mishaps that have happened, even during official and important meetings.

One instance is when a lawyer accidentally turned on a cat filter during a court appearance and wasn’t able to switch it back!

County Attorney Rod Ponton from Texas was in a Zoom court appearance in the 394th District Court in Brewster County when his screen turned into a kitten filter, reported Independent UK.

Judge Roy Ferguson alerted him immediately saying, “Mr Ponton I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings.”

With panic in his voice, Ponton said, “Are you there judge?”

“I can hear you, I think it’s a filter,” Judge Ferguson replied.

“I don’t know how to remove it, I got my assistant here, she’s trying to but… We’re prepared to go forward with it.” Ponton said while the mouth and eyes of the cat moved along with his words and movements.

“I’m here live, I’m not a cat.”

“I can see that,” the judge said after a few seconds of awkward silence.

Here’s the video:

After the amusing incident, Judge Ferguson tweeted,

“IMPORTANT ZOOM TIP: If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off. This kitten just made a formal announcement on a case in the 394th.”

“These fun moments are a by-product of the legal profession’s dedication to ensuring that the justice system continues to function in these tough times. Everyone involved handled it with dignity, and the filtered lawyer showed incredible grace. True professionalism all around!”

Judge Ferguson added that the virtual hearing was recorded and released for educational purposes, and mentioned that it is crucial that the video not be used to mock the lawyers, but instead to exemplify the legal community’s dedication to the cause of justice.

Hope this video made you laugh!
