For residents who live around the Sri Rampai and Setapak areas, please do take note. It has been revealed that an outlet of the popular mamak restaurant chain, Ali Maju, has been instructed by authorities to close for two weeks to undergo sanitisation purposes. The revelation was made after photos of the restaurant’s closure notice were shared widely across social media yesterday (15th August 2020).
According to media reports, the directive came from the Federal Territory Health Department under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
It is said that upon being contacted by Federal Territory Vice Chairman for Parti Keadilan Rakyat, Andre CH Lai, the restaurant chain’s owner, Datuk Jawahar, has gone on to confirm that two of the restaurant’s staff is suspected to have contracted Covid-19 and have been sent to Sungai Buloh hospital.
However, Datuk Jawahar has stressed that since the Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia, his restaurant chain has made a consistent effort to take all necessary precautions, health and safety measures in accordance with the SOPs mandated by the Malaysian Ministry of Health.
“Insya-Allah, I hope nothing bad has happened and I am ready to take the next course of action pending further instructions,” he said.
Those who have visited the restaurant premises between the dates of 1st and 14th August 2020 are strongly advised to report themselves to the Ministry of Health for testing and quarantine. You may contact the CPRC hotline via 03-8881 0200, 03-8881 0600 and 03-8881 0700 respectively.
However, it should be noted that the Ministry of Health has yet to release an official statement on this matter.
