In an update regarding the Movement Control Order (MCO), public transportation services will be limited to operate only during specific hours throughout the implementation of MCO. According to Berita Awani, these services will only be allowed to operate from 6am to 10am and 5pm to 10pm daily.

However, this rule does not apply for all modes of transportation. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob stated that e-hailing services are allowed to operate as usual. But, that is with conditions, such as drivers must practice social distancing and also wear face masks.

According to the Sun Daily, Datuk Seri Ismail has stated that the compliance rate towards the 14-day MCO was at 92%, adding that this figure needs to be further improved.

“Although the compliance rate has increased, the public understanding on the importance of social distancing remains low,” he added.

According to the Sun Daily, civil servants who are on duty would be issued with a letter notifying that they have to be in service, while employers in the private sector offering essential services are also required to prepare a letter for their staff.
