When will people realise that any mass gathering at all will facilitate the spread of Covid-19 and will make the number of cases go up?
According to the Star, there was a mass prayer session held in Bangladesh on Wednesday (18th March). The organiser of the mass prayer has said that there were about 25 thousand people present at the session. But on the other hand, the local police chief said that there were 10 thousand Muslims who gathered at an open field in Raipur, south Bangladesh to recite “healing verses” from the Quran to rid the country of the Covid-19 virus.
The police chief added that the organisers did not get any permission at all to go through with the prayer session. At the same time, authorities have already shut down schools in an attempt to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
Without paying heed to the orders given by authorities, the people went ahead to tourist sites such as the beaches to have fun. The police had to close two of these sites down.
There are now 14 positive cases in Bangladesh and one reported death in the country of 165 million. Some medical experts think that not enough tests are being conducted.
For those of us in Malaysia, we should all take the Movement Control Order seriously and practice social distancing religiously! If you are unclear about the order then you can call the hotline @ 03-88882010.
