Solving a Rubik’s Cube might look very complicated and confusing for some (me), but for those who have mastered the art of solving it can do it within seconds and make it look so easy! We’ve seen speedcubers who hold the record for solving the Rubik’s Cube the fastest while being blindfolded, but did you know that there are also record holders who solve the cube using only their feet?

Apparently such a thing exists and it’s amazing to see how quickly these individuals feet can move. With that being said, we actually have our very own Malaysian speedcuber who solves the 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube using only his feet! And guess what? He is now ranked second in the world for speedcubing with his feet! Woohoo!

It’s only been three years since Lim Hung picked up his first Rubik’s Cube and solved it within two weeks while getting tips from YouTube. But this was just the beginning of his journey towards becoming world number two for solving the cube with his feet, reported Star2.

At only 11 years old, Lim was ranked today as the first in Asia for speedcubing the 3x3x3 with feet with an average time of 24.86 seconds. This comes after he participated in the Medan Farewell 2019 speedcubing competition in Indonesia, which now makes him the second fastest in the world!

“I still can’t believe that I made it! I didn’t expect much because I would then get nervous. I just went to the competition and tried my best,” he said.

However, Lim’s achievement did not come easy as he did not win anything in his first competition back in October 2016. But that only pushed him to practise more diligently and even started to cube with his feet. That’s when he started seeing progress.

In 2017 at the New Zealand Nationals, he won third place for solving the 3x3x3 cube in the shortest time with feet.

“Cubing with the feet is tiring if you’re not used to it. I started to do that in 2017. At first, I just did it for fun, but over time, I got faster. Then in New Zealand, I podiumed third place and that’s when I got more motivated to do it”, Lim said.

A year later, he joined the Tangkak Perkasa 2018 competition where he won his first national award for the fastest record of solving the 3x3x3 with feet in 26.77 seconds! Soon after, he won gold in the Asia category and the Overall category for solving the 3x3x3 with feet at the World Cube Association Asian Championship in Taiwan.

In Sept 2018, Lim was officially listed in the Malaysia Book of Records for achieving the ‘Fastest Rubik’s Cube Solved With Feet’ at 29.352s.

Now in 2019, Lim continues to reach higher as he broke his personal national records for the single and average solve at 20.21s and 26.79s respectively at the Please Be Quiet Thailand 2019 competition in May.

When Lim was asked about what he likes so much about the Rubik’s Cube and what pushes him to join competitions, he said:

“Rubik’s Cube itself probably teaches me how to be patient in life. Competitions are good to socialise and have fun and it’s a way of competing in a healthy way.”

“There is a difference between doing good at home and doing good at a competition because at home, there’s no pressure, it’s just you and the cube and the timer. But in competitions, it takes hard work because it takes you a long time to get over your nerves,” he said.

As of now, Lim has joined 27 competitions both locally and overseas. His mother supports him fully by joining him on all his trips to the various competitions he takes part in.

Watch Lim achieve an average time of 24.86s which placed him second fastest in the world:

Wow! Congrats Lim Hung! You have an amazing talent and we look forward to all the greater things you will achieve in the future. You make Malaysia proud!
