A young boy intentionally placed sharp objects on the road, putting drivers at risk, which led to both of his parents being called in by the police on Monday.

Semporna District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Sabri Zainol, said in a statement that the action was taken following a police report received from road users on January 19.

Stones, wood and nails were scattered on the road

The complainant mentioned that while heading to Tawau Airport on Jalan KM 20 Semporna-Tawau, they spotted stones, wood, and nails scattered on the road.

The items were believed to have been deliberately placed on the road, but fortunately, no accidents involving road users occurred.

The complainant, along with another bus driver, quickly cleared the object from the road to avoid any potential accidents.

Sabri shared that the investigation revealed a 12-year-old boy from the area had thrown the objects onto the road for fun.

“Both the parents and the child were brought to the Semporna District Police Headquarters (IPD) and were given advice and a reminder about keeping an eye on their child’s behaviour. The police also thank the road users who acted quickly to prevent any accidents.”

The police are urging all road users to stay alert and are asking for the public’s help in providing any information about similar incidents by contacting the police at 089-782020 or the nearest police station.
