We’re so proud of this teen!

On Sunday (19 May), 19-year-old Nur Dhabitah Sabri made Malaysia proud when she nabbed the bronze medal in the women’s 3-metre springboard final at the prestigious Diving World Series (DWS) that was held in London. According to The Star, she finished 3rd place among six other contestants.

FYI, Dhabitah was also the bronze medallist in the 2018 Asean Games!

This time around, she managed to get a score of 344.40 points after five attempts, as she is placed right behind first and second winners Maddison Keeney of Australia (368.30) and Canada’s Jennifer Abel (353.05).

Dhabitah’s achievement doesn’t stop there because this medal actually marks her second one that she has won in the Diving World Series, which is kind of a big deal, considering that the diving competition only invites top-ranked athletes from all around the globe.

Her first medal she won from this competition was back in 2017, when she nabbed silver – along with fellow Malaysian diver Pandelela Rinong – in the women’s 10-metre platform synchro in Canada.

That said, this second win was much more memorable as Dhabitah’s name will go down in history as being Malaysia’s first podium finisher in the women’s 3-metre springboard individual since the inception of the competition back in 2007.

Dhabitah – who has about 75k followers to date – also documented her achievement on Instagram, with a photo of herself holding the medal. In the caption, she expresses her gratitude towards everyone who supported her, saying,

“Never thought I can get a medal in an individual event & competing together with awesome divers from around the world. I never could have done this without the support from my family, teammates & people supporting from home.”
