Earlier this week, it was reported that Malaysian content creator Rajeswary Appahu (also affectionately known as Esha) had taken her own life due to extreme cyberbullying and threats of injury, rape and murder. Subsequently, a local influencer was arrested in relation to the cyberbullying and threats.

Now, it appears that Esha was not the only victim of the same cyberbullies.

BuletinTV3 took to their TikTok account to showcase Communication Minister Fahmi Fadzil at the launch of ‘CelcomDigi Experience Centre’, where he revealed that 2 journalists had also become victims of the cyberbullies who made threats against the journalists by showing pictures of their homes and families.

He said, “2 journalists who had contacted me, complained that the people who had cyberbullied the late Esha had also contacted them. 2 journalists. And they felt very scared at that time because these cyberbullies, they were willing to take pictures of (the journalists’) homes and their families.”

“So, this is criminal intimidation.”

The reason as to why the journalists were threatened was not revealed.

Based on a report by BuletinTV3, Fahmi added that some of these cyberbullies are hiding behind fake accounts, making it difficult to trace the perpetrators.

“Many cyberbullies hide behind fake accounts and they hide their identity to give them courage to do so (bully people). For me, if you dare to speak, then you should be daring enough to face it (consequences),”

“So, if you are hiding behind fake accounts, then something is wrong and we need to fix this,” he explained.

We genuinely hope that the authorities manage to track down all the cyberbullies involved in this case and provide justice for the late Esha and her loved ones.

Do stay tuned for more updates.
