Seriously, how can these people serve food that came out from these disgusting kitchens?
On 24 July, Penang City Council and the health department has come together again to conduct raids on eateries. 15 officers participated in this operation and out of the six eateries inspected, two nasi kandar restaurants failed to meet the requirements set by the authorities.
They were immediately slapped with notices to stop operations for two weeks as the premises were found to be highly unhygienic.

According to a spokesperson from the authorities, the officers managed to find rat droppings and cockroaches on the premises and the toilets were very dirty as well. It was understood that the restaurants must have a minimum score of 65 and above in order to pass the inspection.
Sadly, both the nasi kandar restaurants only scored 52.3 and 51.4 respectively, which was not surprising considering the state of the kitchen. Aside from the rat droppings in the kitchen, the officers also found a lot of food scraps in the fridge which was emitting a foul odour.

On that day, 13 summons were issued as the eateries have violated Section 11 of the 1983 Food Act. They were required to thoroughly clean up the premises within 14 days, otherwise, they cannot reopen for business. One of the affected restaurants has been identified as Seven Star Nasi Kandar. Has anyone eaten there before?
We wonder how long the kitchen has been in this condition, and how many plates of maggi goreng have been sent out from that kitchen. Anyway, good job to the authorities for doing the much-needed raids!
