Just 20 minutes after being released on bail, the 45-year-old lorry driver in the fatal accident in Teluk Intan, Perak, involving a PDRM Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) truck that killed 9 FRU officers, was rearrested for an unrelated case.

The accused, Rudi Zulkarnain Mat Radi, was rearrested at the bail payment counter of the Ipoh Court complex at around 12.20pm today for a cattle theft case.

According to Sinar Harian, the accused was arrested by the police to assist in the investigation of the cattle theft case that took place in April at Hutan Melintang, Bagan Datuk, Perak. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.

Previously, the lorry driver pleaded not guilty at the Teluk Intan Magistrate Court to nine charges under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving in the fatal FRU truck crash.

The court then set bail at RM6,000 with the added conditions of his driving license being suspended until the end of the court case and for him to report to the police station every week. However, the accused failed to post bail and ended up in the Hilir Perak Police Headquarters’ (IPD) lockup.

He was then released on bail with one surety after his 58-year-old employer, known as Ravi, and a friend, 62-year-old Roslan, jointly paid the bail for him.

Just 20 minutes after being released on bail, however, the accused was rearrested for the cattle theft case.

He will return to court for the case remention of the FRU truck accident on 17 June.
