A 41-year-old man refused to pull over and evaded the authorities during a Road Transport Department (JPJ) roadblock at Jalan Sultan Mahmud heading towards Jalan Seri Budiman in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, yesterday (20 December).
The man, a civil servant in the state, sped away on his Yamaha RXZ motorcycle for approximately 5km before surrendering to the pursuing JPJ motor patrol unit at the Kampung Simpang Tok Ku traffic light junction.

According to Harian Metro, the man was reportedly travelling from Kuala Ibai towards Kuala Terengganu with 2 other friends on separate motorcycles.
At the roadblock, his two friends complied with instructions, but the man accelerated away, claiming he was afraid because his driving license had expired and the vehicle had no road tax.
Moreover, further checks by JPJ found irregularities in the chassis of the motorcycle, as revealed by JPJ Terengganu director Mohd Zamri Samion, who headed the operation.

As a result, the man’s motorcycle was seized by the department.
81,107 motorcycles were inspected in Terengganu since 1 January
Meanwhile, BERNAMA quoted Mohd Zamri as saying that a total of 16,396 motorcycle owners and riders in Terengganu have been penalised for various offences during Ops Motosikal, from 1 January until yesterday.
The JPJ Terengganu director added that throughout the operation, 81,107 motorcycles were inspected, which resulted in:
- 24,954 summonses
- 806 motorcycles seized
- 5,803 notices for running red lights
“The most common offences include riding without a driving licence, lack of insurance, and expired driving licences, while technical offences involve improper registration plates, vehicle modifications, and missing side mirrors,” Mohd Zamri stated.
