A four-month-old baby from China died after a doctor treated her cough with acupressure therapy instead of giving her medicine.
According to China Press, the baby’s mother noticed that her daughter was coughing on the morning of 30th November and took the girl to a nearby doctor who examined the girl’s throat and lungs.
He said that everything seemed fine and that there was no need to give the girl medicine or injection because the girl is only four months old.
Instead, he said that giving her massage therapy at the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) department would be enough to treat her cough. So, the baby was administered massage therapy – most commonly known as acupressure therapy – for 20 minutes.

While the mother was carrying her daughter home, she noticed that there were pink bubbles forming in the girl’s nostrils.
The girl also seemed to have fainted and would not wake up. She immediately brought the daughter to the hospital where doctors tried to save her.
Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead with multiple organ failure being the cause of death, according to her death certificate.

The acupressure therapy centre responded to the girl’s death saying that their staff are qualified and emphasised that the girl was in good condition when she left the centre. They said that they would actively cooperate with the authorities for further investigation.
Oh no, the poor baby. Her tiny body must’ve not been able to handle the massage. RIP.
