A four-year-old girl from China who was infected with the new coronavirus has been cured, making her the first patient in Malaysia to recover from the virus that has taken the lives of hundreds of people in China.
According to Malay Mail, the girl was reported to be infected with the virus on 29th January and underwent treatment at Hospital Sultanah Maliha, Langkawi.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that this case proves the “2019-nCov is treatable and the patient can recover fully, as many other cases in China have been reported.”
“The perception that this disease is fatal to those who contract it is inaccurate,” he said.

He posted on Facebook several photos of the girl and her family smiling with joy after test results revealed that the girl had made a full recovery.
He said the last two repeated clinical tests performed on the girl showed she no longer had the virus and congratulated the Langkawi hospital for its care and treatment of the child.

There are 10 confirmed cases in Malaysia as of today, with the most recent patient being a 41-year-old Malaysian man who was diagnosed with the 2019-nCov after coming into contact with colleagues from China.
The man from Selangor had a meeting in Singapore where he is believed to have contracted the virus. He is now being treated in an isolation ward at Sungai Buloh Hospital.
The full recovery of this little girl gives us hope that we can overcome this virus! Good job, doctors, nurses and medical staff who have worked tirelessly to make this and many other successful recoveries happen.
