50yo M’sian Who Repeatedly Hit Axia with His Hilux Cries & Pleads for Light Sentence in Court, Gets Fined RM13k

Yesterday, we shared about a road rage incident in Johor Bahru, Johor, in which a 50-year-old Malaysian man repeatedly reversed his Toyota Hilux to hit a Perodua Axia following an argument with the driver of the latter.

The perpetrator, Muhammad Firdaus Abdullah, has since been arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and today, he was charged in two different proceedings involving the viral incident at the Johor Bahru Magistrate Court.

As reported by Harian Metro, the accused, who is unemployed, was first charged in front of Magistrate Atifah Hazimah for committing mischief and causing damages of RM15,300 by hitting the Perodua Axia.

The charge was framed under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which prescribes a punishment of up to 5 years in jail, a fine or both, if convicted.

Meanwhile, in front of Magistrate Nur Fatin, the accused was charged with driving his Toyota Hilux in a careless and inconsiderate manner.

This charge was framed under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and for a first conviction, it can land an individual up to 12 months in jail, a fine between RM5,000 and RM10,000 and have the conviction endorsed on their driving license by the court (their conviction of the offence will be written on the driver’s license).

Following the charges being read in court, the accused cried and pleaded for a light sentence as he has a wife and 7 children.

The accused was quoted as saying,

“I regret my actions and promise not to repeat them,”

The father of 7 was fined RM13,000 for the offence

In the first proceeding, the accused was sentenced to a fine of RM7,500 by Magistrate Atifah. Should he fail to pay the fine, he will be jailed for 12 months.

For the second proceeding, the accused was sentenced to a fine of RM5,500 by Magistrate Nur Fatin, and should he fail to pay the fine, he will face imprisonment of 6 months. The court also orders the conviction to be endorsed on his driver’s license.
