Look at those glorious cempedak spring rolls served with vanilla ice cream on the side *drools*. It goes without saying that the rich vanilla ice cream pairing elevates the whole dish.

sangkaya

What better way to beat the heat with some coconut? Sangkaya has taken Malaysia by storm with its Thai inspired dessert having open its very first road side stand in Jalan Alor to eventually operating their very own store in SS15! Their ice creams are served in coconut husks (wah so authentic) and there are sweet corn, roasted peanuts, Nestum cereal & kidney beans to choose from for toppings.

The King’s Bing Soo is shaved ice filled with fruit toppings, vanilla ice cream and red beans. The blend is a unique korean twist which reminds us very much of our Malaysian ABC. This large iced dessert bowl of 500ml is ample to be shared among 3 friends. If you’re in the mood to spoil yourself, and prefer something sweet yet salty, try their ‘Salt Ice Cream Caramel Popcorn Bingsu’ that fuses savoury and sweet.

namoo2

Price: RM17.90

Location: Namoo on the Park, Level G3, Publika, Solaris Dutamas

Operating Hours: Mon-Thu, 10.30am to 10.30pm; Fri-Sun, 10.30am to 11pm

5. OW:L Espresso Cafe

Speaking of Korean desserts, here’s another that will flush away your pent up body heat. The icy bingsu will lower your body temperature after the second bite and keep you chilled (until you leave the air conditioned restaurant anyway). Savour the green tea flavoured treat complemented perfectly with fragrant red bean paste or opt for their signature Injeolmi bingsu.

Injeolmi

Price: Injeolmi RM12; Green Tea Bingsu RM16

Location: 4(A-02-1), Menara Rajawali, Jalan SS15/8, Subang Jaya

Operating Hours: Daily 10am to 12am

6. Ben’s

cheesecake

This little cup of ice cream, cheesecake, macadamia nuts and caramel sauce is fused together to become the ultimate dessert you tongue will ever lay on. The ice cream’s smooth yet rich consistency blends well together with the crunchy macadamia, not to mention their chunks of cheesecake is to die for. Each bite as if brings you another step closer to heaven. Okay, maybe I’m a little exaggerating here, but definitely try it! #noregrets

Price: RM15

Location: Ben’s outlets (KLCC & Pavilion)

Operating Hours: Sun-Thu, 11am to 12am; Fri-Sat, 11am to 1am.

7. Baba Low’s 486 / Straits Food Company

cendol

Last but not least, we would not forget our own local icy dessert!

Located at the corners of Bangsar, one will easily miss these restaurant if they have not known or heard about it. (Note that I mentioned two restaurant names in the title because they are from the same owner, just different branches). Serving authentic nyonya dishes, the restaurant is famous for their nyonya laksa but we’re not here for that. What we’re more interested in is their Cendol Gula Melaka which is very aromatic in taste plus is given in generous amounts. Slurrrpppp!

Price: RM4.50

Location: Baba Low’s 486, Lorong Kurau Bangsar / Straits Food Company, 2, Jalan Abdullah, Bangsar Utama.

Operating Hours: Daily, 7am-10pm
