This guy has given all the Rohingya refugees a bad name in our country.

On 19 February, a 7-year-old girl was almost abducted by a man at a busy night market. This incident reportedly took place at 6.30pm in Kuala Kangsar, Perak.

During the time of the incident, the girl’s mother who is a vegetable vendor, was busy attending to her business. Suddenly, she heard her daughter crying out loud from the other side of the lorry and asked the father to check it out.

The 51-year-old father surnamed Wong, said he saw a young man forcefully holding his daughter’s hand when he got there. Worried about the girl’s safety, he immediately stopped the guy and alerted members of the public for help.

It was understood that the stranger is a 21-year-old Rohingya refugee who came out from a refugee camp two years ago. Currently, he’s making a living by salvaging scraps in Kuala Kangsar.

After being captured and tied down by the public, the refugee said all he wanted to do was take a picture with the girl, but no one bought his explanation. Sure or not?

Soon, police arrived at the scene and took the suspect away in handcuffs. The girl couldn’t make the trip to the police station as she was too traumatised.

When asked by reporters from China Press, the father revealed that his daughter would occasionally come to the stall to help out, and sometimes she would wander around by herself.

Apparently the suspect had earlier bought some vegetables from the stall and somehow quietly slipped behind the lorry afterwards. The victim’s father refused to believe the suspect’s explanation.

After all, if he only wanted to take a picture with the girl, why was she traumatised and crying so loud? Makes sense.

Wong has reportedly been a vendor for almost 20 years and this is the first time he has ever encountered such situation. He hopes that mainstream media would cover this news so that other parents would be more vigilant.

What’s your thoughts on this? Do you believe the story told by the suspect?
