In the past one week, Malaysia has seen a resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the Klang Valley, especially in Selangor where the Klang district has been categorised as a red zone after recording more than 41 active cases.

There have also been several other cases at various shopping malls, schools and bank outlets and certain office buildings.

Many people living in Malaysia have started to grow worrisome of being out in public, especially when there have been no restrictions set in place by the government despite the rapid increase in Covid-19 cases.

According to the Ministry of Health, 89.3% of the country’s positive cases have visited malls around the Klang Valley and 94.9% of them had visited various eateries too.

While this may seem like something to be worried about, the MOH wants to assure the public that further investigation and contact tracing has proven that there has been no spread of Covid-19.

According to MySejahtera, not all areas visited by a positive person results in disease transmission.

This goes to show that if we follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set in place by the MOH and practise social distancing in public areas, the virus can be kept at bay.

Let’s not grow weary of following the SOPs as the well-being of the country lies in our hands. Let’s not give up hope as we work towards flattening the curve once again.
