As the world moves into about half a year of dealing with this pandemic, many places are beginning to adapt and settle into what could very much be, our new normal.
Based on some pictures posted by Shanghaiist, this high school in Shanghai improvised on students being together in close distance, whilst still maintaining appropriate social distancing.
Plastic shields were installed in the high school’s cafeteria as students went on to have their lunch. The shields separated them so that there was an appropriate amount of distance between each student.
The post garnered loads of attention as netizens expressed their views on the new school improvements. Many also spoke about how other institutions that they knew of, have also imposed new rules for our current situation.
One user said, “My friend’s son in Yunnan started school again today (4th grade). Yesterday at registration, all the students were told that the only time they could take their masks off at school was to eat. Also, they would be forbidden to talk to others while eating. Violators would be suspended!”
Another user agreed to the measure by saying “Actually I think this is a pretty good idea in general for the slightly socially awkward people like me who doesn’t like to converse with others when they’re eating their lunch in the work cafeteria.”
One user even brought up the story of students in Hangzhou, China using one-metre-wide hats to promote social distancing, and how if she was a teacher, she wouldn’t be able to teach.
However, despite the hassles these new improvisations could bring, it seems that without a vaccine, trying to live in this new norm could just be our only solution yet.
