Prime Minister calls on authorities to launch an investigation

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has spoken out on the incident, calling it “a vile act” carried out by “irresponsible and self-interested parties” that must be condemned.

“The government respects the right to peacefully assemble and express one’s stance, and this has been consistently demonstrated through various gatherings in the past. However, the principle of freedom also requires us to act responsibly and abide by rules, decorum, and the law,” he wrote.

Anwar said he has urged authorities to launch an immediate investigation and quickly track down those behind the attack.

“Peaceful assemblies should never be hijacked for narrow political agendas or used to stir unrest among the people. Acts of violence driven by incitement, hatred, or false information must never be allowed to take root in society,” he added.
