A man from Africa attempted to escape a raid by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) by desperately jumping from the third floor of a residential building yesterday afternoon (August 28) in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
The suspect, believed to be involved in an online “love scam,” ended up with broken ribs after the fall, according to Harian Metro.

The syndicate targeted both local and foreign women
Nilai District Police Chief, Superintendent Abdul Malik Hasim, said the suspect was believed to have lured both local and foreign women into romance scams through social media.
The 1:50 PM raid at a residential area in Nilai led to the arrest of the suspect, two male accomplices, and two foreign women at their “base.”
“A team from the Nilai District Police HQ raided the house and arrested three foreign men in their 30s and 40s. Two women in their 30s were also detained, and police seized equipment believed to be used for the scam,” he said.

The group raked in up to RM1 million from the scams
Abdul Malik said the police also seized four laptops of different brands, 15 mobile phones, two tablets, 11 debit cards from various banks, two WiFi modems, two pendrives, and a hard drive.
He said all the suspects are believed to have used multiple fake Facebook accounts to target both locals and foreigners. The group had been active since August 2023 and is thought to have made up to RM1 million from the scams.
The case is being investigated under Sections 420 and 120B of the Penal Code.
The Seremban Court has ordered all suspects to be remanded for four days, until September 1.
