After MOHE’s University Intake Fiasco, MAS & AirAsia Will Allow Students To Reschedule Flights For Free

Social Media was abuzz recently with Malaysian University students being in limbo following the Ministry of Higher Education’s decision last minute decision on University intake and registration amidst the rising Covid-19 cases. Many suffered losses and without a place to stay as they have already travelled far to get to their institution of higher learning.

Although the measure is necessary, but many has pointed out that the ministry should’ve considered all possible scenarios in advance before making a decision in the first place.

The Minister of Higher Education, Dr Noraini Ahmad has since apologised for the fiasco and have taken necessary measures to cater to the needs of the student that was in limbo. One notable initiative that the ministry made was to be in contact with airlines companies to make sure that flight ticket would remain affordable.

Even better, two major airline companies, AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines have agreed to reschedule flight ticket for students for free. As reported by MalayMail, University students who have bought flight tickets with the two companies can now reschedule their flights with no added fee.

For Malaysia Airlines, students can reschedule the tickets for up to one year from the flight ticket purchase. If you are one of the students affected, you may reschedule it here.

As for AirAsia, you can reschedule your tickets as well as your parents’ tickets to any time before 31 December 2020, subject to availability.

Hopefully, this could ease the burden of all the students affected!
