As Malaysians, there’s no harm in learning an extra language or two, and it’s a common practice for many parents of different races to send their children to Chinese schools just to learn an extra spoken & written language.
What you may not know is that the rakyat is not the only one who shares that very thought. Malaysia’s ruler also recently expressed interest in learning the Chinese language, if given the opportunity.
“I will love to learn the language if I have the chance to strengthen communication.”
Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah recently expressed his thoughts about learning the language during his speech at the 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner of the Pahang Chinese Chamber of commerce last night (October 23).
Thanks to the president of the organization who speaks both BM and Chinese fluently, he “supplied” the King with the desire to learn the Chinese language.
His Majesty also pointed out that he acknowledged the contributions made by Chinese businessmen in the state, both domestic and international levels. He believes that businesses should have healthy competition in a fair environment, which will lead to good international competitiveness.
An end to political turmoil
As the General Election is less than a month away, the Chairman of the state’s Chamber of Commerce also voiced out about what he wishes to see following the outcome of the election.
“Regardless of who wins the election, all parties should put aside their prejudices and put a stop to the ongoing political turmoil.”
He also said that after the formation of the new government following the next GE, the political turmoil should be stopped as it does not only harm the economy, but also the ecology of the country, as reported by China Press.
