Sultan Abdullah said that the government is fully aware that Malaysians are struggling with the high cost of living in our country. According to The Edge Markets, he shared that multiple initiatives have already been implemented in order to solve this issue as well as to improve the well-being of the people. This includes increasing the minimum wage, providing Cost of Living Allowance (BSH), subsidies for retirees, and the Food Bank program that was executed last year. He said,

“Even though the result of these initiatives cannot be seen immediately, Malaysians should trust the that various actions are being taken to increase the people’s well-being.”

“Malaysians have to be realistic when putting expectations on the government. They should also continue to work hard in order to improve their current standard of living.”

“No matter what, the government will always be on the same side as the citizens when it comes to handling this issue.”

Sultan Abdullah also revealed that the government will be strengthening their ties with the private sector and other non-governmental organisations. This is in order to combat the country’s consumer issues and also to eliminate traders who are involved in illegal acts.

“We welcome the Mid-Term Review of the 11th Malaysia Plan and the Budget 2019 that have taken into account the people’s aspirations and challenges. This will ensure that the economic growth of Malaysia will benefit every layer of our society.”

“The government will also be working together with the private sector in order to improve the country’s economy and elevate Malaysia’s global standing,” Sultan Abdullah added.

We’re glad that the government has been making efforts in solving this issue and we hope that Malaysians will continue to trust them in doing so. Do you have any thoughts on this issue? Let us know in the comments section below!
