Air Asia has just announced that it will resume operations on domestic flights starting 29th April. However, the airline will observe a set of regulations to ensure the safety of all members onboard the aircraft during this time.

“We have undertaken a thorough review of our guest handling procedures both on ground and onboard in light of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said airline President, Bo Lingam on Air Asia’s official website.

“We have been working closely with the airport authorities to ensure that all the relevant precautionary measures are in place to ensure a safe, pleasant and comfortable journey for everyone.”

Here are the new protective precautionary measures that passengers are to adopt:

  • All guests are required to wear their own masks before, during and after the flight (during check in and bag collection). Guests without a mask will be denied boarding.
  • Each passenger is allowed one piece of cabin baggage not exceeding 5kg to help minimise unwanted contact between the baggage of each guest.
  • Observe social distancing using the floor markers at queuing areas, including check-in counters.

According to the airline’s new guidelines, the initial 7kg hand luggage limit will be further restricted to 5kg once they resume operations at the end of this month. The new regulation also specified that the hand luggage could either be a laptop bag, handbag or small bag but it would need to follow the dimension restrictions of 40 cm (height) x 30cm (width) x 10cm (length) respectively.

The airline’s management assures frequent fliers, “at AirAsia, the safety and wellbeing of our guests and employees is always our highest priority.”

“We work actively with all our regulators, local governments, civil aviation and health authorities, including adhering to guidance from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to ensure the highest standards of compliance and conformance are in place for every single flight we operate in our network,” added the airline’s president.

Stay tuned for more updates!
