Taking to TikTok, @mybordercontrol shared a video showing Dato’ Sri Mohd Shuhaily bin Mohd Zain, Immigration Director, slamming officers over a “counter setting” incident that rocked the Border Control and Protection Agency.

The issue, which led to the arrest of an immigration officer by the agency’s Monitoring and Integrity Unit, surfaced after CCTV footage captured suspicious behaviour at KLIA Terminal 1.

Counter setting, for those unfamiliar, refers to the act of allowing selected individuals to pass through immigration inspection counters without following proper procedures.

The officer in question was found with RM8,391.45 in cash, three communication devices, and several records containing passport numbers.

Angered by the incident, the director, known for his firm stance, delivered a fiery speech in several videos that have since gone viral on social media.

“I am not here to scold you. You talk a big game about Malay rights, but at the same time, you’re caught working with syndicates that open our borders and allow crime to happen.”

“My job now is not to tell you what you should do as a Muslim. But I am here to remind you of your duty. You don’t see what’s happening out there because of your actions, but let me tell you, it’s the Malays who will bear the consequences,” he said.

In the corresponding video, the director explained the implications of immigration officers allowing foreign criminals into Malaysia.

“I’ve seen parents crying, fathers and mothers, because their child became a victim of these criminals. Would you want that to happen to you, Puan? Or to your wife? To your kids?”

Netizens applauded the director for calling out officers who lacked integrity in performing their duties.

“This is how things are supposed to be done, DS Haily. We should tighten border control.”

“We want a hotline where we can report incidents like this when they happen,” commented another user.
