Multiple events have been put on hold ever since the Movement Control Order began. Even during Hari Raya, no open houses were allowed whatsoever.

In his latest press conference, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, announced that ALL social events will be allowed beginning the 1st of July.

Social events not only include weddings but also reunions, religious prayers, tahlils, housewarming etc. The minister added that despite these events being allowed, there will still be strict standard operating procedures (SOP) present.

The SOPs include:

  • The event can only be conducted for three to five hours
  • The number of guests is only limited to 250 people but this also depends on the size of the hall
  • Organisers are responsible for making sure their guests maintain social distancing
  • Buffets are still not allowed
  • It’s best if there are people to serve the food but it’s recommended that the caterers themselves do it
  • Guest MUST register in the MySejahtera app before entering and have their temperatures taken before entering

Besides social events, in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, the slaughtering of cows will be allowed but only in mosques and suraus.

The sacrificing ceremony can only happen with approval from local authorities and the nearest professional veterinarian. As usual, the number of people allowed to attend cannot be more than 250 people depending on the size of the event space. Not only that, there also cannot be more than 30 people in charge when they’re sacrificing the animal.
