“Always in our hearts” Tesco Malaysia Rebrands to Lotuss Stores
If you’ve been here when Makro turned into Tesco and Tesco into Lotuss, it’s time to acknowledge that you’re getting older!
What with ntv7 ceasing its broadcast and now Tesco Malaysia being rebranded, it’s truly the end of an era. Over the past few days, Malaysians have noticed something different at the Tesco stores they visited with a rebranding notice.
Even those using MySejahtera pointed out that the name of the store has changed when they checked in. To clear all doubts, Tesco Malaysia themselves released a statement yesterday clarifying that they will be changing their names to Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
“Look forward to new branding from us. One thing’s for sure, we will continue to cheer you up with services, offers and goods that remain the best.”
Even on Tesco Malaysia’s Facebook page, the About section states that Lotuss Stores Malaysia Sdn. Bhd (formerly known as Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.) is a member of the Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd (C.P. Group) since December 2020.
According to The Edge Markets, in April 2o20, Tesco and Thailand’s CP Group signed in March to sell Tesco’s business in Thailand and Malaysia to CP Group for an enterprise value of US$10.6 billion (RM43.15 billion). As of now, it is still unsure if the Tesco’s products will still remain in the stores. World of Buzz has reached out to Tesco Malaysia for a statement.
Malaysians on Twitter expressed their sadness and how Tesco will always be in their hearts. They also hoped that the products vendors will remain the same due to its high quality.
What changes can we expect from the new Lotuss Stores? Let us know in the comments section!
