It’s no secret that Malaysia has been handling the Covid-19 outbreak really well, so much so that we’ve even managed to send over medical supplies to other nations such as the UK as a gesture of goodwill in this global battle against the virus.
Though, it seems a comment made online regarding the quality of Malaysia’s assistance has triggered the Malaysian army’s wrath.
The UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Dominic Raab recently took to his Twitter page to thank Malaysia for its contribution to frontliners in the UK, as Malaysia sent over 200 tonnes of gloves. One netizen, Greg (@UKRegulator) replied to Raab’s tweet with what seemed like a response that questioned the quality of the gloves.
Will they meet UK quality standards?
Can you point to Malaysia on a map?

Dominic Raab wrote, “200 tonnes of gloves for the National Health Service (NHS) arrived in the UK from Kuala Lumpur, heading for our frontline healthcare workers. A huge thank you to our friends in the Malaysian government for facilitating this.”
Greg then replied, “Will they meet UK quality standards? Can you point to Malaysia on a map?”
Triggering Malaysians’ wrath
Malaysians clearly didn’t take well to the comment as he was insulting the quality of the gloves. Many took to Twitter to respond to Greg, including Malaysian actress, singer, activist and philanthropist Maya Karin.
His tweet was actually sarcasm and aimed at someone else
Though, it seems that Greg’s snarky comment was aimed at Malaysia at all, but instead was a sarcastic comment made towards Dominic Raab, as he tried to explain to the Malaysians bombarding him with responses.
I guess it’s safe to say that Malaysia wasn’t exactly his target when he made the comment.
