COVID-19 cases are on the rise and while there are no plans to reinstate MCO (please don’t), the Ministry of Health highly encourages employers to bring back work from home (WFH).

During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, people around the world had no choice but to WFH to curb the spread of the disease. For the same purpose, the government is on board with the suggestion to bring back WFH again, says Datuk Seri Zulkifli Ahmad, the Ministry of Health.

The idea of allowing employees to WFH once again was addressed recently, where he also mentioned the criticism towards his recent press conference about the epidemic, reported China Press.

“Some people scolded me and said I was anti-climax. They were waiting for an announcement and questioned why the mandate of wearing masks was not given immediately.”

He emphasises the implementation of the Enhanced Alert System (HAS), which is driven by evidence, not emotions.

“Any major changes in the future, the decisions will be based on scientific evidence.”

At the time being, the government encourages people to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of the virus, which include masks wearing, avoiding crowded places, maintaining physical distance, and washing hands frequently.

Just recently, MOH also predicted that COVID-19 cases are expected to drop in January 2024.

Regardless, we can always do our part by doing what’s necessary. If you suspect yourself having the symptoms, run a quick check and isolate yourself if you’re down with COVID-19.
