With boxes of tangerines flooding every supermarket in the city, you just know that Chinese New Year is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to ‘balik kampung‘! Wooo!
However, if you’ve decided to start driving during peak hours, your ‘balik kampung‘ journey can be excruciatingly painful for your soul and your butt as well.
So to prevent that, PLUS has come out with a few non-peak dates where motorists can cruise relatively comfortably on the highway.
- 12 February (Monday)
- 13 February (Tuesday)
- 20 February (Tuesday)
- 21 February (Wednesday)
The four dates mentioned above are deemed the best times to travel on the highway, as traffic is most likely still tolerable. However, be warned that since many schools have applied for holidays on 14 February, traffic will most probably start to build up on that day!
So, what is the best time of the day to start your journey? Here’s what PLUS has recommended:
- From Klang Valley to Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak and Johor – Before 10am
- From Klang Valley to Melaka, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang- After 10am
- From Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak to Klang Valley – Before 10am
- From Melaka, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang to Klang Valley – After 10am
Also, motorists are urged to have enough rest, double check their engines and tyres before hitting the road. Take note, yea!
So there you have it guys, the best timing for your ‘balik kampung’ journey! Remember to share this with your friends and family to avoid getting stuck in the jam for hours!
