Recent news of an imitation passing off as Milo has been circulating on the news and social media. Nestlé warns their customers of these fake goods on their Facebook page and how you can identify them by inspecting on the perforated packaging.

On 13 March, The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry raided the site of the illegal operation in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan and seized RM250,000 worth of the fake products which were ready to be distributed. Authorities arrested 6 immigrants from Indonesia and Myanmar, along with 1,000 empty boxes, 50,000 empty plastic packs, a printer, a weighing machine and a numbering printer.

MILO Malysia posted, “Dear fans, Nestlé Malaysia has been alerted that the authorities have found counterfeit versions of MILO packaging and MILO powder being produced in Negeri Sembilan. Please be assured that we are working very closely with the relevant authorities especially the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism to ultimately curb this matter as the safety and quality of our products is a non-negotiable priority of Nestlé.

Nestlé takes this issue very seriously as counterfeiting of products is an illegal activity that deliberately misleads the public. If you believe you have purchased counterfeit MILO or have any enquiries with regards to this matter, please contact our Consumer Service Centre at 1800-88-3433.”

Although Nestlé is a Swiss based multinational company, statistics done showed that Malaysia is the largest drinkers of the Milo beverage in the world.
