Just last week, Big Bad Wolf organisers and chain bookstore, BookXcess, opened Malaysia’s first ever 24-hour outlet in Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya.
The outlet definitely proved to be a hit, with a huge number of customers visiting the store at all hours of the day, and loads of Malaysians took notice. Looks like a vast majority of us have the need to read!
Avast, ye mateys!
Follow this treasure map to the most incredible reading haven in Malaysia, open 24 hours a day!

The 37,000 square feet bookstore is definitely a big space, with a cafe and stage all in one place. Does this sound like paradise or what?
The popularity of 24/7 Book Xcess shows that the Malaysian people do want more 24/7 & easily-accessible reading and working spaces. Basically free-access (and preferably 24/7) libraries. Build more of them, not huge malls! That’s how you encourage reading too! pic.twitter.com/tXM7R350P7

However, although everyone’s been loving this new outlet, some visitors haven’t exactly left the place the way they found it, with plastic wrappers thrown on the floor and books scattered about the desks in the store’s reading area. Come on lah, guys. Malaysia baru, but still got this mentality!
Although it’s upsetting to see such a mess in a newly opened bookstore, it is good to see a significant number of Malaysians also speaking out against such irresponsible behaviour.
Manners people manners. This is not a public library, this is a bookstore. Even if this is a library, you should have the responsibility to put them back from where you take it 🤦🏻♀️ #tamarindsquare pic.twitter.com/3QA3h6XuIh

I work as a librarian before and this is normal but i hope ppl can be more civilised , I suggest if they can provide a trolley or smthg & ppl can put the books on that trolley at least if they’re super lazy to put it back on the shelves then.

Let’s do better and clean up after ourselves, especially when we’re in public spaces! What good is having a 24-hour store filled with precious books if we don’t treat it respectfully?
