In case you’re wondering why there is an influx of political content on social media lately, it’s because six Malaysian states which didn’t dissolve their respective Legislative Assemblies (DUNs) during the 15th General Election (GE15) will be holding a State Election on 12 August.

One of the states includes Terengganu and political parties and coalitions are now vying for the voters’ support. Interestingly, two main coalitions that are going head-to-head in the state, Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) are actually offering similar things in their manifestos.

Perikatan Nasional, which consists of PAS, the former Terengganu state government before its DUN was dissolved announced today that it is offering interest-free loans for purchasing motorcycles for working individuals with an income of RM4,000 and under.

As reported by Sinar, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said that the interest-free loans are part of the party’s 10 manifestoes should they win the Terengganu State Election.

Two days earlier on Friday, BN Terengganu already announced a similar initiative should they win the State Election, though with more specific details compared to PAS’ manifesto.

According to Harian Metro, UMNO Terengganu president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Said said that the interest-free loans of up to RM5,000 for the purchase of motorcycles.

He added that the initiative would be offered to Terengganu residents, especially the youth, with applicants only having to pay RM4,500, with the remaining RM500 being subsidised by the state government. Of course, this is only the case should BN win the Terengganu State Election.

So, what do you guys think of both PN and BN offering similar promises in their manifestoes? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
