‘Bumblebee’ may shine in the Transformers movies, but not in real life, and certainly not in Malaysia.

Officers from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) recently seized a ‘Bumblebee’ in an operation in Kedah, and inspections found that the vehicle committed several offences under the Road Transport Act 1987. 571271369 1238053318351444 8490312140423135208 n

The luxury car was seized in an operation known as ‘Ops Luxury’ that was carried out on Jalan Alor Setar-Kangar in the state.

A summons was issued, and the vehicle was taken to the JPJ Kedah Seizure Depot for further investigation

JPJ, however, did not specify the offences that were committed by the driver of the iconic Bumblebee.

“Kedah State JPJ emphasises that the department will not compromise with any vehicle owner who violates the law, regardless of the type or value of the vehicle,” JPJ said in its statement today (28 October).

No more seasonal discounts on summonses starting in 2026

With JPJ officers actively conducting roadblocks and operations throughout the country, it is worth noting that starting in 2026, the Government will no longer offer seasonal discounts on Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and JPJ summonses, as confirmed by the Ministry of Transport (MOT).

The Government has also introduced a new principle of ‘The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay’, where lower compound rates are given to those who pay their summonses early. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said that the Cabinet has decided that discounts on summonses based on special programmes and campaigns will be replaced with this new principle starting next year.

At the time of writing (28 October) until the end of the year (30 December), the public can also enjoy discounts of between 50% to 70% for existing PDRM and JPJ summonses.
