A 22-year-old man in Orange County, California pleaded guilty last Monday (19 April 2021) for breaking into the residence of three female college students and promptly sentenced to more than six years in prison. As reported by NBC Los Angeles, the man, Jonathan Jose Ruiz not only broke into the residence but also helped himself into some refreshments. Worse, he even used a laptop belonging to one of the residents to download porn and well, ‘played’ with himself.

The crime itself happened in 2018 whereby on 14 October that year, he broke into the home and went through the residents’ underwear. He also left semen on the laptop after downloading porn and watching it on the computer.
Police then used the semen and used a new method to identify the suspect more quickly than usual. Due to Ruiz having a past conviction, his DNA records was stored in the prosector’s system and it was used to match with the semen at the crime scene.
Previously, Ruiz was convicted for vandalising bathrooms at a local high school in Orange County in 2017. After matching the semen’s DNA with Ruiz’s, the police arrested him at his home where he was in possession of two pairs of underwear belonging to the victims.

At the court hearing last Monday, Jonathan Jose Ruiz accepted a plea deal from Orange County Superior Court Judge Gary Pohlson, who sentenced the defendant to six years and eight months behind bars despite Orange County Deputy District Attorney Evelyn Vasquez objected to the plea deal.
