“This is among the measures taken to reduce congestion at the Causeway. With this move we expect traffic to ease by 40%,” said the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement.

Drivers can expect toll charges to be reduced between 47% and 82% depending on the vehicle class.

  • Private vehicles: RM4 (from RM7.50)
  • Taxis: RM3 (from RM5.70)
  • Buses: RM4.50 (from RM9.10)
  • Commercial vehicles:
    – Class 2 – RM4.50 (from RM17.10)
    – Class 3 – RM6.10 (from RM34.30)

Imagine all the money you can save from paying lesser toll fares!

Johor-Singapore Second Link's Levy And Toll Rates Reduced Between 47% and 83% - WORLD OF BUZZ

However, do take note that these new rates are only applicable during off-peak hours, between:

  • 10am and 3pm
  • 11pm and 5am

So, plan your journey during these times!

Besides that, commercial vehicles (vehicles used to carry goods or fare-paying customers) will also enjoy cheaper levy for only RM50; this applies to both outbound and inbound commercial vehicles.

Currently, the existing levy rates are RM200 for vehicles exiting Johor to Singapore and RM100 for inbound vehicles.

In a meet-the-people session at Bukit Mor, our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, hopes that this reduction in the toll and levy fares will help increase tourism rates by bringing in more tourists from Singapore. He also said, “We are not sure about how much it will help to ease traffic jams but there will be a reduction.”

He added that easing traffic at the Johor Causeway would definitely help Malaysians working in Singapore because some them would wake up as early as 3.30am just to avoid heavy traffic to get to work. Thankfully, they don’t need to wake up so early anymore.

Although it wasn’t reported if the fares would a permanent subsidy or a temporary one, it will definitely be beneficial for Malaysians who like to visit Singapore or the ones who work there.
