After the announcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) yesterday (11 January), the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) said that they would not compromise and will take action against anyone who violates the standard operating procedure (SOP) requirements during the implementation of MCO 2.0.

According to Sinar Harian, the National Chief of Police, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said that his team will always be ready to return and carry out enforcement tasks throughout the country, including the implementation of roadblocks.

According to him, the police will be more firm this time around as compared to the MCO that was enforced during 18 March.

“Our strictness in taking action will be enhanced. We will not compromise in taking action against anyone who is found to have violated the conditions set during the MCO as the time to educate and warn is over.”

Abdul Hamid also said that the time period given earlier was enough for the people to comply and understand the SOPs that were put in place.

He also said that this time the enforcement of authorities will improve after taking into consideration past experiences and analysing all aspects of strengths and weaknesses.

“I guarantee, we are always ready to enforce all the rules set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) and the National Security Council (MKN),” he said.

At the same time, Abdul Hamid also instructed the public to take care of their safety, family, and the public to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.

He assured that PDRM will continue to issue updates concerning the developments on the implementation and enforcement of the law during the MCO period.
