Facing a huge debt can be a scary experience. Have you done something so over just to get out of a debt though? Well, we guarantee whatever you’ve done will not top what this woman did.
Zhu Najuan, a 59-year-old year old Chinese woman from Wuhan, had transformed her entire face through plastic surgery to disguise herself just to avoid a personal debt amounting to 25 million yuan (approx. RM15.9 million). According to the local authorities, Zhu Najuan’s plastic surgeries apparently made her look nearly 30 years younger, as reported by Xinhuanet.

“We were very surprised at the scene,” the police said.
“She looked in her thirties and was different from the photos we had,” the police added.

Zhu had financed her plastic surgery using borrowed bank cards, and also confessed to using other people’s identity cards to travel across the country by train. This woman is literally the real life version of that film, Identity Thief starring Melissa McCarthy.
Let’s be honest though, real life rarely resembles Hollywood comedies. After all, the not-so funny side of identity theft are the devastating financial consequences, including the potential of serving a lengthy jail time.
In fact, the Wuhan judicial authorities finally launched a series of crackdowns on debt avoidance. In just the first half of 2017, the city’s judiciary had detained 186 people for failure to pay their debts.
Not only that, the media also reported that one court in Jiangsu province has even drawn up a blacklist of defaulters. Anyone who telephones an individual on the blacklist will first be forced to listen to a pre-recorded message saying, “Please urge this person to fulfill their legal obligations”.
