A Chinese national in Malaysia has a piece of advice for the industries in the country that may come in handy if we don’t want to be swept away in this competitive world.

In her Xiao Hong Shu (RED) post @豆豆大马签证中心(华夏), Dou Dou said if the industries in Malaysia remained in comfort zones and are resistant to changes, it will take less than two years for Malaysia to be eliminated from the market.

“I’ve worked in many industries and dealt with many employers in China for the past 10 years, so I am well aware of how the Chinese navigate their businesses.”

Dou also said that she expected to receive criticism for sharing her thoughts as she did in the past when Malaysians would tell her to “go back to China.”

According to Dou, over the past two years, more than 700,000 Chinese expatriates have been living in Malaysia, with a large number of Chinese companies registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM). Not only that, but the Chinese companies are already operating at high speeds in Malaysia.

She points out certain industries that she claims are still behind

When it comes to various industries in Malaysia, Dou commented on the flaws and how they are still behind as compared to those in China.

  • Catering industry – similar menu for 10 years, lack of innovation and bad service.
  • Medical and beauty industry – technology is far behind the Chinese market.
  • Home decoration & construction – Design concept is conservative and construction efficiency is low.

Dou also mentioned smart door locks. saying that Malaysians are still using the traditional key and lock, while fingerprint and password locks have been popular in China for a long time.

“How would the local industries react if the Chinese companies enter the market here?”

“Adapt, don’t resist”

In her video, Dou advised Malaysian industries to face changes with an open mind and learn to adapt to market changes.

“Don’t resist the competition. The entry of foreign markets does not mean the local enterprises are being replaced.”

“Learn from China’s business models to improve efficiency and competitiveness. Or else, you’ll see yourself getting eliminated from the market in less than 2 years.”

Dou also clarified that you do not necessarily need to sacrifice your holiday and rest time to improve.

What do you think of her take on this?
