The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has decreed that working hours for civil servants in the state will end at 12.30pm every Friday throughout next month for Ramadan.

In a Facebook post by Kesultanan Pahang, His Royal Highness expressed his approval of the change in the working hours, which was also approved by the Pahang State Government during the recent State Executive Council meeting on 5 February.

Speaking at the closing of the 68th state-level Tilawah AL-Quran yesterday (13 February), Al-Sultan Abdullah hoped that this decision would provide civil servants with more time to spend with their families during Ramadan.

Moreover, the initiative is meant to honour Friday, which is known as the “chief of days” in Islam.

Meanwhile, the Pahang Sultan also expressed hope that the people would take the opportunity to get closer to the Quran by reciting the holy scripture, reflecting and practising its teachings in their daily lives.

Al-Sultan Abdullah further asserted that he would also engage in the recitation of the Quran and reflect on its verses together with the staff of Istana Abdulaziz throughout Ramadan.
