Being able to earn a high salary is something that we all work hard to achieve and many of us have to climb up the ranks to be able to get a good salary. In fact, some of us study so hard to get that certificate that will allow us to get even better salaries when we look for jobs!

However, for popular steamboat restaurant, Haidilao in Singapore it looks like you don’t need a degree to be able to get a higher pay. According to one of their recent job ads that went viral, they are hiring cleaners for a starting salary of S$2,650 (RM7,844) up to S$4,500 (RM13,320). Even if the amount wasn’t converted to Ringgit, it’s still a lot of money!

The ad was posted on various online portals and the minimum education level required is a Primary School Leaving Examination certificate (PSLE), which is equivalent to our Primary School Evaluation Test (UPSR). Don’t need no fancy degrees!

Plus, employees of Haidilao also get to enjoy pretty awesome benefits too, such as air tickets for you to go home, yearly and monthly bonuses, daily meals, as well as insurance and medical benefits.

However, before you start getting excited to apply for the job, the high salary comes at a cost. First of all, you need to work the graveyard shift as Haidilao opens until really late, so you have to be prepared. Other than washing the dishes, the job also requires their employees to keep the dish washing room clean, among other ad hoc duties.

Sinchew interviewed a number of young people, and many of them said that they would refuse to work such jobs as they feel that it is very back-breaking work. Some of them who are fresh graduates told the daily that they wouldn’t be able to apply what they learnt in college while others said that when calculated, the wage wasn’t very high especially with the long working hours. It was reported that employees would have to work six days a week and 10 hours a day.
