Malaysians will be allowed to take part in contact sports starting 15 July, said Defence Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri in his latest press conference. This includes sports like football, rugby, hockey, sepak takraw, basketball and squash, as well as for combat sports like karate, silat and taekwondo.
Competitions for non-contact sports like motorsports competitions at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and other local circuits, badminton competitions for singles, chess competitions and others will also be allowed starting 15 July.
Futsal courts and other sporting facilities will be allowed to open on the condition that they follow the standard operating procedures like taking temperature, ensuring social distancing and monitoring the amount of people inside the facilities.
Furthermore, local competitions for contact sports will only be allowed starting 15 August.
However, no spectators would be allowed for contact and non-contact sports competitions.
All individuals who enter these sporting premises must download the MySejahtera app on their phone.
