Recently, former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin urged the public not to vote for Pakatan Harapan (PH) after apparently watching a video showcasing a group of Jewish people praying that Malaysians will vote for PH, who he alleges champions Jewish and Christian communities.

He added that this is a ‘huge danger’.

“For me, this is dangerous! This means that there will be the process of Christianisation. And we’ve already heard of these stories, right? In Kuala Lumpur, in Petaling Jaya, if there are churches, on Sunday there are also Malays going there,”

“It turns out that they’ve entered Christianity,” he said, as showcased in a video by @phan.fizs via BFM News.

Following this, the Council of Churches of Malaysia shared a statement condemning the former Prime Minister for speaking lies and instigating racial disharmony.

“We are shocked by the statement by former Prime Minister YB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin accusing Christians here to be in concert with a group of Jews to promote and christianise Malaysia. This statement is not only untrue but is irresponsible of a politician of his standing to make such a statement to the public which is carried and widely viewed on social media or to the public,”

“We live in a multi-religious and multi-racial country and the sensitivity of each community must be taken into account when addressing public forums. Such statements, carelessly uttered, have a tendency to create racial and religious tension and strife. It must be addressed by the authorities to ensure that such blatant disregard of the truth, and of the sensitivities of the various religions are not condoned or repeated,” shared Reverand Jonathan Jesudas, the General Secretary of the Council of Churches of Malaysia.

Stay tuned for more updates.
