We all know that planning a wedding can cost a lot of money. Which is why in most weddings, especially in Asian ceremonies, many of the newlyweds would most likely receive gifts in cash, in other words, an angpao.

But with the pandemic around and everything being cashless these days, some couples have decided to take things up a notch and to make sure they actually receive the money.

This newly wedded couple from Madurai, India, decided to attach QR codes onto their wedding invitations so that they would not miss out on their angpaos.

According to India Times, to make sure that the wedding was as contactless as possible, the bride, TJ Sivaksankari came up with a brilliant idea with attaching QR codes so that guests will be able to give gift money without any problems or contact.

Gift cash was digitally exchanged by those who were unable to attend the wedding in person as well. How smart!

Many of their friends, family members and relatives were not able to attend the wedding as they live far away. Plus, with the Ponggal festival going on at the time made it even more difficult for their guests to travel to attend the wedding.

“About 30 people had used the facility and gave cash as their wedding present,” said T.J.Jeyanthi, mother of the bride.

“This is the first time such a thing has been attempted in our family,” she said.

Pictures of their wedding invitations went viral and the family has gained much attention ever since.

“I have been getting many calls on this. Similarly, my brother and others in the family have been getting lots of calls since Monday morning,” said Jeyanthi.

Well, perhaps Malaysian couples who are about to tie the knot soon can incorporate this idea into their wedding plans.
