The United States is the most affected nation according to the data, with more than 7 million confirmed cases and more than 205,000 deaths. According to CNN, Europe became the second epicentre for Covid-19 after China.

According to CNN, experts warn that the soaring infection rates point to a second wave in Europe. In Malaysia however, there is a rise of positive Covid-19 cases recently after the numbers seemed lower earlier. Yesterday alone (28 September 2020), there were 115 positive Covid-19 cases in Malaysia.

Many countries have gone through lockdowns as well as quarantines. Wearing masks, sanitising the hands and keeping a social distance has slowly become a norm worldwide.

Besides, many countries are putting their hopes into Covid-19 vaccines, yet, for now, there is still no set vaccine that has been approved for general use. Dr Soumya Swaminathan, the chief science officer at the World Health Organization(WHO), warned that it could be the year 2022 before people can start longing to go back to the “pre-Covid-19” life.

It is very crucial for the public to know that the Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet and we must do our best to prevent the situation from worsening. With the rocketing cases in Malaysia, people should now strictly comply with the government’s SOPs, stay home whenever possible and take care of your own health and safety.
