The matter revolving around pay wage will always be discussed, and (we guess) it’ll never be enough.

The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) has stated that it hopes there will still be room for discussion between it and the government before implementing the new policy for appointing lay officials on a permanent but non-term basis.

Its president, Datuk Adnan Mat, said that CUEPACS thinks that the current pension system is the best and is in line with the salaries of civil servants so that they can continue their lives in old age.

“If the government wants to make a decision in the Public Service Assistance System (SSPA) including abolishing this pension system, the government needs to increase the salary so we’re able to save more in the EPF.”

Adnan revealed that the salaries received by civil servants now are considered “cukup cukup makan” (just enough to eat).

“The current pension system helps the retired civil servants to continue living their lives.”

He said that he also feared that the decision to ban the provision of pensions would bring “gloom” to public service in the future, reported BERNAMA.

Adnan also urged the government to increase the salaries of civil servants, which would help them survive in times of increasing costs of living and goods.
